Giving Brewery Advertising a Personality
PROJECT
Bucking Goat Brewery, a longtime client, gave me creative freedom to develop a series of promotional posters that would stand out inside the brewery. Rather than relying on traditional product-focused advertising, I explored a more playful direction using humor, photography, and memorable messaging.
THE CHALLENGE
The brewery's existing promotional materials primarily focused on the product itself. The challenge was to develop a more engaging visual approach that reflected the brewery's personality, connected with customers, and created a memorable presence within its space.
CREATIVE DIRECTION
Developing the Visual Concept
I developed several initial concepts and presented mockups to the marketing team for feedback. We moved forward with a playful, PSA-inspired direction that combined witty wordplay, photographic compositing, and a warm, rustic visual style. Rather than focusing solely on the beer, the designs emphasized the social experience of sharing a drink with friends.
DESIGN EXECUTION
Turning the Concept into Finished Artwork
I developed two complementary poster designs using photographic compositing, rustic wood textures, expressive typography and playful messaging. Each design was created to capture the brewery's personality while emphasizing the social experience of sharing a beer with friends. The artwork was refined for visual consistency and prepared for large-format printing.
ENVIRONMENTAL APPLICATION
Bringing the Campaign into the Brewery
The finished posters were designed for prominent display throughout the brewery, using bold typography, warm imagery and playful messaging to attract attention and complement the surrounding environment. The large-format graphics helped bring the campaign into the physical space, creating visual touchpoints for customers beyond traditional product advertising.
